Cohen's Fashion Optical, Lawrenceville, NJ

This is a very unfriendly place. The people here act as if they don't give a *** -- or you're bothering them. I was trying to get attention to look at a couple pair of glasses. But the babes behind the counter were so busy chit-chatting away about their weekend plans that they didn't want to be distrubed. One "salesperson" was so scantilly clad that her cleavage was hanging out of her top!! (This is a sales representative?? I thought I was in a bawdy house.) I walked out in disgust and went downstairs to Lenscrafters, where the sales people seemed a bit more helpful. My advice: Stay away from Cohen's. They're obviously making so much money that they just don't care.

yes, indeed, they not only know nothing but they also make bad glasses. I paid over $750 for a pair of "graded optics" but cannot look out of them.

I am going to see their "manager" tomorrow to rectify the situation. (Was told that a manager will be at the 86th St. store after 1 tomorrow).

Either they have to re-do the glasses or simply refund my money. I assume they will do neither one of these things, but if they do will write a PS to this and write a good comment.

Bargain Shopping at Cohen Opticals

I scheduled an appointment at Cohen Optical in Paramus, NJ on a whim. I hadn't been to the eye doctor in several years, and knew that my eye sight was getting bad. The sales associated directed me over to counter for the sale items, because I wasn't really interested in paying for designer glasses. I picked out some generic glasses, which were $484 each and on sale for 50% off. I needed prescription glasses for reading and a pair for distance. She gave them to me for $200 each. So, I got a real good bargain for almost $1000 in non-designer glasses for $400 each. Well, not including the $30 in taxes on the glasses. She even gave me the eye exam for free. I was a little shock that glasses would cost that much, but based on the price that the sales associate gave me, she gave me a real good bargain. I could only imagine what the designer glasses would have cost me.

Bought a pair of glasses on Nov 2 2012 at Cohen Fashion Optical. In the Massapequa mall I picked up the glasses to place on my face and the lens fell out.

The clerk said no problem,no problem as he ran to the back of the store and did his magic. I left the store thinking all was well. No such luck. The lens fell out four more times and before I could bring them back ...

you guesses it, the lens fell out and was lost. They claim no responsibility for selling me a defective pair of glasses and want me to pay $100 for a new lens.

BUYER BEWARE!!

WORST PLACE EVER

The same thing happened to me and my boyfriend!. Except my boyfriend never got his contact lenses or prescription. WE PAID FOR NOTHING!!!

We saw Dr. Tammy Nguyen in Dec 2011 at the Paramus location. My boyfriend got a contact lens sample to test AND she refused to give us the prescription until we decided which contact lenses brand to buy!! We came back after the Holidays and she was gone and the store had no record of our visit or prescription. My boyfriend is stuck wearing expired contact lenses unless we decide to pay 200$ again for another prescription. WORST PLACE EVER. I will NEVER GO BACK. The staff is completely useless and uninterested in servicing their customers.

By the way thanks for reminding me to contact customer service before posting a complaint because now I have another complaint. I HAVE CALLED THEM AND E_MAILED THEM MANY TIMES AND THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME!!!

Lousy Customer service and tried to scam money

Went to Cohen Fashion Optical in Queens Center Mall NY to get glasses for my 3 kids already prescribed from their opthamologist (ages- 5,9,10). Now I have a pretty good eye care health coverage with $0 copay for exam, $0 material copay and $130 towards the purchase of any frame out on the market. I figured this should be a fairly simple visit since their exams were already done only need to choose the frames and no extra bells & whistles for simple children's frames. The staff not only tried to sell me small adult frames (not fitted for children's face), they also tried to get money out of me by showing only frames over $200. They also had few children's frames but costed a whopping $300. Customer service was lousy when I did receive any of it. They kept putting me off by attending other customers instead of trying to help find reasonable priced frames that actually fit children. After literally wasting 2 1/2 hours between waiting for their assistance and trying to tell them what my insurance covers- I walked out with all filled out forms, prescriptions and my kids- left the 3 frames on the display counter. They didn't even realize I was gone. Never again will go to Cohen's for any of us. Beware of their schemes and scams.

Cohens honor system

In the window of Cohen's Fashion Optical in Forest Hills on 71st St., they have a banner in the window that says they honor certain Insurance companies. When I went, the first thing I asked was do you take my insurance. They asked to see the card, wrote something down and said yes. They did the exam, I picked out my glasses, they asked for a deposit, gave me a receipt that only says $480.00 Paid. No information on the receipt nothing. When I called 1 and a half months later to ask if they were ready, they said yes. When I asked what is my balance because the receipt says paid they said $280.00. I then said what about my insurance? Did they submit a payment? That is when the problem started. I don't know, let me check, what kind of insurance do you have? Then I said, you people should know this. I showed you my card. Do you even know what my insurance is? That is when I found out that the banner in the window " WE HONOR THE FOLLOWING INSURANCE COMPANIES", does not mean they are participating with your insurance company. Not only do they not fill out the forms for you and submit them, but they ARE NOT PARTICIPATING. NEVER AGAIN

Our job is to take your money, collect copay's and not worry if your insurance pays. If we get a copay of 50 that's good enough for us, whether or not we really do accept or even submit your insurance.

once we get you to sign the receipt saying no refunds what do we care? That's how it works, really sad I have no choice but to do this to people otherwise I'm outta a job!

Has not sent my contact lens since 08/19, I cant see well.

Cohen's Optical in Hato Rey P.R. promised on 08/20/2010 that I would receive my contact lens in DE, USA, in 2 weeks from that date. It is 1/12/2011. I've called 6 times. I've been told they'd call me back but never did.On 11/18/2010 a woman tells me she has the lens and will send the the following business day.Again, I waited a week and got nothing from Cohen's. I was told lies and I paid for my product. I can't see well.Until yesterday I used the sample lens given too me but they are too old and hurt my eye.

Cohen Pembroke Pines Fl-VERY Unorganized!!!!

Ok so after weeks of waiting for my contact lens (over 3 weeks now after exam and counting!!!)they still can't figure out what their doing... The exam went well, in fairness the Dr was nice! The staff are basically lost and needs some training. Several incidence happened that would definitely not make me come back or refer my friends to Cohen Optical; After the exam they made me come in to pick up my contact lens - when "supposedly" the doctor wanted to see me for fitting. So after the fact that I'm wearing the incorrect prescription - felt it was wrong and after calling them several times just to make sure it is the right prescription they were able to figure out what happened and made me come in pronto! So, the doctor was pissed that her staff weren't supposed to dispense the prescription apologized to me about the confusion and basically examined me again and sent me home with a trial! The following day I checked my online statement and was shocked I was charged another $99!!! Called them to clarify things and after a few days figured out it was a mistake and promised me they will credit the money back which happened a week after the complaint! So to speak, I called a week ago to see if the appropriate trial prescription is already in, the lady was really nice. Told me to just stop by my prescription trial is in... after 30 minutes of driving to their location the very dazed and confused staff finally figured out that the box in my file is the box that I returned and my trial prescription is still not in - apologies again and promised me that THEY will call me as soon as it gets delivered! Almost a week now after that incidence and still now word about my contacts! At this point I am almost tempted just to refund everything I spent since this is by far the most frustrating contact lens I will ever have to wear if I end up getting it from them! Seems like they are really quick with taking money from my bank account which I didn't even approved! I guess they keep your info and they can basically just take money without permission from you. Good thing I caught that otherwise... who knows! Never really complained about anything in my life but this is just the worst experience I had with an optometrist! I won't recommend Cohen Optical Pembroke Pines based on my experience with them!!!

Poor Service/ Cost of air fare

On sunday July 11, 2010, i left my glasses which were purchased at Kings Plaza for $800.00 +.in November 2009. I was told that I can pick them up on the July 15, I was booked to leave the country on July 17. Each time i called I was told that they were not ready for pick up, or I was left holding the line. The manager said that my glasses were on back order until July 30, then that they were at the manufactures. No one ever apologized or had a sensible explanation. My glasses were mysteriously found after I got there on the 19th after I told them I need to be paid for my glasses. The person who said she is the manager was pushing the technician away as he was explaining that the glasses were in an unmarked box I had to pay for a new flight and I am not even sure I got the correct glasses after all the run around. I think the service the stinks. I will never recommend this place to any one.

My advice dont ever go to cohens in the westfarms mall i spent like 1000 dollars in there and still i left there feeling like ***!!! they made my glasses with a scratch across the lens then when i brought it back to have them replace the lens THEY BLAMED IT ON ME!!! i was like are you kidding me !!! then the girl and the man behind the counter started arguing with each other as he was trying to help me and she was basically telling him he didnt know what he was talking about ( thank you mahmood)THEN another saleswoman with a russian accent bacially told me if i didnt like what she was telling me when i bought the glasses then i could go else where and YOU KNOW WHAT my bad for going to the mall ill stick to harvey and lewis in downtown hartford that way i know the 3 people on the sales floor are always happy to see me and help me in every way possible !! never again will i shop at cohens for having such "upscale overpriced glasses" they sure do have some ghetto people working there the hours may be better but ill make time to go to HL at least there im not just a NUMBER !!

Did not show proper return policy and made shoddy produc

I went it to a Cohen's after my glasses broke. I had a swollen eye and had picked out the frames. It was not a good day because of my black eye. I was being fitted for the frames when I felt ill and the staff thought i should see a doctor. I told them I just needed to sit and they took my credit card and made the sale without letting me sign it to look at authorization slip. It is the only place in the store that shows the return policy. Then they insisted they call someone for me to take me to a doctor. I got them and the frames were too small for bifocals. The only pair the optician wanted to sell me was $300 more and I paid $100 more for progressives. The only way they measure the bifocal is to out a green do on the glass. Lenscrafters uses a machine to measure your eye. The glasses that came from cohens do not work. I know because one eye is a different Rx than the other and when the glasses work, both of my eyes work together (it eliminates esotropia). I have been to a highly skilled opthamologist and he sid the only way to make my eyes focus is to use bifocals. Cohens cant do it and their sales people are devious and just trying to make more money from people who have a genuine need for their product. Lensecrafters was very afforadble and has much better quality.

Cohen Optical @ Westfarms Mall

I had order 5 pairs of Eye glass costing me about $4000. I was wear my glasses since then one at atime. after some times, I took my fisth pair of Glass that Cohn Had Made for me and found Unleveled Lens. I took it to the Westfarm store and showed one the employee who told me that Store manager Pavel is on Vaccation and he is the one to decide what to do about it. Two days ago, Pavel called me after two weeks and told me since its is some time ago when I had bought the glass i might have the lens changes from another place. He can only replace the lense if I buy another pair of Glasses from them. I am totally pissed and recomend everyone not to deal with these ***. They dont deserve the Loyal customers. There Business practice sucks.
